DAS Audio worked with acclaimed PRODUCER, DIRECTOR AND ARTIST Criss Angel, and his sound designer Aaron Beck, on the design of the audio system for the spectacular production of CRISS ANGEL MINDFREAK at the main theater of Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

The DAS Audio team worked hand in hand with Criss Angel on the design of the acoustic installation of CRISS ANGEL MINDFREAK, a revolutionary immersive theatrical and musical experience that integrates the most sophisticated and innovative technology available. The goal of the design was to provide an emotionally stimulating and immersive listening experience for the audience. Sound engineer Jimmy Kwon noted the needs of the show, "Criss needs a sound system capable of reproducing different frequency ranges, from EDM to the rock spirit of his master illusions and that, in addition, offers clarity in the moments in which he speaks or acts."

With these demands, the project focused on designing a multi-channel sound system that met the demand to create a quality immersive audio experience in all parts of the show. Jimmy Kwon explained, "After adjusting the delay between the sources and equalizing the system, it was shown that the design would be able to meet Criss' demands just as he wanted. Criss' vision, along with Aaron's design and DJeff's (music director's) programming, became a reality thanks to the performance of the DAS Audio system."

The sound system in this production receives 23 different input signals in 3 DSP 4080 processors managed by DASnet and 3 amplifiers of the DX series with built-in processing, controlling 41 independent audio outputs that feed a multichannel system achieving clarity and a truly immersive environment. The multi-channel design consists of a 2-cluster main system of Aero-20A and Aero-20.120A, the UX-218RA flown subwoofers and two Aero-8A core systems, along with the Artec-510A and 508A as Frontfill reinforcement. The installation was reinforced with 6 powerful UX-30A for low-frequency playback and Artec-510 and 526 and Vantec-12 systems as side and rear reinforcement powered by DX amplifiers that function as part of the sound immersion of the show.

In addition, the main system used DASaim optimizing SPL distribution and frequency response across the audience. "Once up and running, we quickly realized that the system could do anything we wanted to provide a unique experience to the audience," said Aaron Beck, sound designer. "Criss and I were looking to design a multichannel system that would adapt to the different moments of the show. The show is very dynamic and can range from just one voice to a level of surround and dynamic sound similar to the club experience. Criss really wanted to create a unique sound environment and DAS Audio met the challenge."
