DAS Audio offers a waste of acoustic energy at The Palace

Located on a legendary corner of SoHo and TriBeCa, The Palace is an all-new nightlife venue that opened its doors in early September 2021.

The venue, which is set to become New York's new trendy venue, is the first venue of its kind in big New York City to use DAS Audio's E11EVEN Sound speakers, specifically designed to inject a high level of acoustic energy into electronic music venues.

Canal Sound & Light, based in New York, NY, which offers sound, lighting, video, DJ equipment sales, installations and rentals throughout the territory of greater New York City, was contracted to design and install the new sound reinforcement system at The Palace.

Its owner and director, Jeffrey Kwan, worked closely with John Fiorito, head of sales for nightclubs and hospitality in the US, with the aim of formulating a sound system design that met the expectations of The Palace's management.

Together they installed a DAS E11EVEN Sound speaker configuration designed by Fiorito and commissioned by Fiorito and Geovanni Ortiz that uses Rational Acoustic's SMAART acoustic measurement and instrumentation software toolkit.

"Given the complexity of delivering good sound in the multiple areas of the venue, John Fiorito was on site throughout the process to help our staff and ensure the highest level of satisfaction to The Palace management," said Kwan.

"On the main dance floor we devised a 4-point configuration using four DAS E11EVEN Sound ES-10 2-way speakers. As support in the low frequencies, these speakers have the reinforcement of a dual transducer of subwoofer of 21 inches ES-221. This box is installed under the DJ's booth/stage. In addition, two passive subwoofer speakers with ES-218 bass enhancer have been installed that offer additional support in the lower notes."

The Palace has two bar areas and a second level. The first bar area has two passive 2-way DAS ES-26 speakers, with support at low frequencies by a compact DAS Quantum Series Q-10 subwoofer speaker. The second bar area has four DAS ES-26 boxes and two other Quantum Q-10 subwoofer speakers.

On the second level, the Canal Sound & Light team installed six DAS ES6 speakers on the walls. As a support in the low frequencies, two passive subwoofer speakers with DAS ES18 bass enhancer were also installed.

As a culmination, the installation includes a rack with DAS E11EVEN Sound EP-2K4 and EP-6K4 amplifiers (one of each), two EP-260 processors, and several amplifiers from other manufacturers rescued from a previous installation in the enclosure. The EP-6K4 is used for the ES10 boxes on the main dance floor and the EP-2K4 amplifiers are used for the ES6 speakers installed on the second level.

Asked about the use of DAS Audio's E11EVEN Sound Series speakers in The Palace project, Kwan commented:

"The ES-10 speakers deliver perfect sound, plus the necessary dispersion and the right look for the main dance floor. Something similar happens with the subwoofer speakers, which are tremendously powerful and offer intense and sharp bass. The result is a complete, rich and natural sound with the SPL levels necessary for this type of enclosure."
