Phonum is beyerdynamic's speakerphone with wired (via USB-C) and wireless (Bluetooth and NFC) connectivity, which opens a new horizon of communication allowing face-to-face and remote attendees to interact as if they were in the same place.
The Gecko function built into the product allows the use of Phonum in three different modes of operation for the microphone, in order to ensure the best quality in voice pickup.
Omnidirectional: Collects the voice in a 360° polar pattern, allowing all attendees to be heard no matter what position they are in with respect to the equipment.
Cardioid: Concentrates its capture beam only on the front of Phonum, a very useful function for when the speakerphone is used by a single person, achieving the effective rejection of all sound sources that are on the sides or behind the equipment.
Tracking: By far the most efficient mode of operation of Phonum and the one that distinguishes it from the rest of the speakerphones on the market, based on tracking the speaker in real time. That is, the capture beam will only open to where it has to open when it has to, in order to pick up only the voice of that user at that moment, while discarding any sound that is not of interest to the conversation. Under this mode, Phonum is able to service up to 8 people with impressive intelligibility.
These operating capabilities are achieved by arranging 3 microphones built within the equipment, in combination with its built-in digital signal processing, such as the acoustic echo cancellation and noise cancellation offered by Phonum within the same solution, plus an automatic volume leveler to ensure that everyone in the room is heard clearly, regardless of whether they are located near or far from the speakerphone.
Phonum is equipped with a 2.3W speaker that, being positioned at the bottom of the product, allows the radiation of sound omnidirectionally, allowing all people to hear the return of the conversation without having to be located in a certain position in relation to the speakerphone.
The frequency response of the speaker can be modified to concentrate only on the spectrum of the spoken voice, very useful for conference applications, or open to a wider range that can go down to 150 Hz, in the desire to be able to be used for entertainment purposes to listen to music with an extremely remarkable quality for a product of its kind.
Phonum is supplied with a rigid case for transport when used in portable mode thanks to its operation via Bluetooth and its integrated rechargeable battery with autonomy time of up to 12 hours, in addition to a USB-C cable of 1 m. for when its use will be wired.
