The popular nightspot with more than 4,500 square meters located in Washington, Decades Club, prefers E11EVEN Sound by DAS Audio systems to ensure clear and natural sound in its spaces.
The Decades Club space is framed by a retro theme, which refers to the last four decades of the 80's, 90's, 2000's and 2010. The aesthetic style of each decade mentioned occupies a different level in this Club.
The design of the space at Decades is also a tribute to the professional career of Antonis Karagounis, owner of the Club. Antonis has long worked on the promotion of DC's most historic nightspots, such as Echostage, Ultrabar, Mayflower Club, Barcode, Soundcheck and FUR.
In view of the large area that Decades occupies, added to the aforementioned musical theme divided by decades, this club updated its sound system and chose the solution E11EVEN Sound by DAS Audio.
The new sound devices were completed last August, thanks to Randy White of Washington Music Center, one of the leading music stores in the US and preferred partner of the DAS Audio brand.
Installation and details
So, for the system change project in Decades, three people were appointed, who as a team were in charge of the installation: 'Willy' Rodríguez, owner of Willy-Tech Services of Miami, an AV integration services company; John Fiorito of DAS Audio, who was responsible for complementing the design, management and commissioning of the audio systems; and Geovanni Ortiz, DAS Audio Application Engineer and Rational Acoustic SMAART certified, was responsible for optimizing the speakers.
Of the installation in the club, John Fiorito commented: "The rooftop is one of the most original spaces in Decades, with a retractable roof, the space allows private events of between 50 and 1,000 people to be hosted. Here, we have used twelve E11EVEN Sound ES-26DX-W speakers, weatherproof. These 2-way systems incorporate two 6B speakers, for low frequencies, and a compression driver with a 1-inch diaphragm. The low-frequency boost is provided by three subwoofers E11EVEN Sound ES-218SDX-W equipped with two 18LX transducers".
In the same way, he explained that the amplification for these speakers was achieved thanks to the use of the amplifiers E11EVEN Sound by DAS Audio, in its references EP-10K4 and EP-14K2. "The system's signal processing includes a BSS Audio BLU-100 signal processor and a BLU-BOB1 Break-Out Box expander, coordinated by Santiago Ruiz, an external contractor we work with who is certified for BSS and Creston installations for all E11EVEN Sound by DAS Audio projects that require programming."
Installation of sound systems in themed spaces
Four Artec-308 2-way passive speakers with 8-inch transducer, an M-26 motor and six 2-way point source boxes E11EVEN Sound ES-10 equipped with a 3-inch voice coil transducer for mid-low frequencies were installed in the Hip-Hop room. In addition, four Action-S218 and one Action-S18 passive subwoofer take care of the low frequencies.
Fiorito explained that in the 90s and 2000s they opted for four Artec-308 speakers and six ES-10 boxes in each room. As in the Hip-Hop room, four Action-S218s and one Action-S18 were installed, both of which are responsible for the low frequencies. "The power amplification of these three rooms is carried out with two ELEVEN Sound by DAS Audio EP-14K2 and two EP-6K4 amplifiers."
Finally, the owner of Decades concluded:
"In a top-notch nightclub or restaurant, the important thing is to get a clear and natural sound. Music should be an attractive element as it is an important part of the 'atmosphere'. Quality sound is needed, with the right levels, as well as clear speech intelligibility.
John Fiorito, Randy White and Willy Rodriguez were very aware of the whole process and the results speak for themselves. I couldn't be happier."
