In 2003, an integration firm began operations that operates in both the audiovisual and broadcast industries. Today, two decades later, Viewhaus is growing and strengthening, with an important vision for the future and sustainability. ConsorcioTec spoke with its director, Juan Carlos Medina, on the occasion of the company's anniversary.
"The truth is that we had very good results from the first year. We were born with Sony but we immediately approached very important companies to seek their support, including Extron. In addition to the television channels that we served with the production teams, the universities opened the doors for us to integrate mainly in the classrooms. We also approached other companies in the sector, with the engineer Jaime Celis we opened a line of work with the brands of Audio Representations, mainly with Shure. Today these brands are still with us," he recalled about his beginnings.
In these 20 years in the technology industry, there have been many changes and evolutions that Viewhaus and its team have experienced and supported. Juan Carlos Medina mentioned some, such as the change in the standard in the definition of television, going from SD to HD and today we are talking about 4K. "I mark high definition as a milestone because I think that Sony mainly, among other brands, democratized High Definition, that is, they began to bring out low-cost or very affordable products that then put customers with the possibility of migrating to digital, but also in this definition. This happened in the first three years of the company."
Success factors
One of the keys to Viewhaus' growth has been staying close to its customers and keeping them informed. In this sense, they decided to visit several cities and give technology talks in the company of the manufacturers they represented. Medina assured that these tours were very successful and that many people expressed their gratitude for having reached their regions and then became customers.
The executive also highlights the determination that the company has had to keep its work team well trained, making it up of professionals in the industry. Additionally, since 2010 they have been linked to AVIXA and since 2018 to PSNI, which put them on the international stage and allowed them to take on global projects. In 2019 they were chosen as one of the best places to work in the audiovisual industry, an award given by PSNI and endorsed by an independent institution.
"For us it was important to appear in fifth place of the TOP 100 audiovisual integrators with the greatest recognition of AVI Latin America. It was a source of pride and also of great commitment, because we knew that after several years of being in the market, customers located us and had an expectation of us, which motivates us to be better to continue providing them with the best possible product and service," said the director of Viewhaus.
What's next
Today there are 45 people who are part of Viewhaus in three locations located in Guadalajara, San Luis Potosí and Mexico City. The audiovisual integration line is their strength and generates the largest volume of projects, mainly in education and corporate. But broadcast projects were what allowed them to overcome the pandemic without problems, which is why they continue to be an important line.
When talking about the company's future plans, Juan Carlos Medina pointed out that they seek to "continue on the path of excellence, because we have tried to be a company that delivers the best solutions and products; we know that we have to evolve, we are thinking very strongly, in a very insistent way, on the issue of starting to provide audiovisual services as a Service. We are preparing to see how we are going to offer them."
Another front of intense work has to do with sustainability. A few years ago, Viewhaus undertook the development of policies in this regard internally and now seeks to project that work to the industry. For this reason, Juan Carlos Medina was recently appointed as SaVe's ambassador for Mexico, being one of the first in Latin America. This is an association of industry companies that promotes the circular economy and sustainability in the AV world.
"We seek to address sustainability issues in the audiovisual industry. What we have to look at the most is the issue of electronic waste, because the amount that is being generated is really alarming, we all have to do our bit to make it less. And that we can enter this circle of circular economy, excuse the redundancy, because in the end many things can be rescued," he emphasizes.
